This maple burl, bark and all, was one of two test subjects that underwent various stages of copper patina experimentation. Because I always intended this piece to have a waterproof resin finish, I was confident in leaving the bark attached to the burl. Check out the YouTube video (https://youtu.be/KUVrtAFNzMo) where I tested the copper patina effect on a much larger burl. In the video I used copper powder as the metallic coating, but for this maple burl I used copper leaf. This vessel measures approximately 5.25 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide.
